What makes an artist?

June 20th, 2022

What makes an artist?

What makes an artist?

Well, in my opinion, it's not the picture, drawing, painting, etc that he creates.
No, it is the message you share, the goal that you have for that creation. It's like: a parent is not a parent, just because he has a child, no, well not entirely... It is one because of the years he invested in his education and the process of seeing his smaller ones grow.

You are not an artist just because you can snap a shot, move a brush or share a picture, not, you are one when after all the agony and the negativity you see around, you try to share and empower beauty that erases and makes that "bad mojo" go away.

The work that you put in doesn't have to be equal to what you receive, no, it has to surpass it, and it has to share a scope higher than your ego of calling yourself an artist, photographer, musician, etc. A doctor is not a doctor because of his title, he is one instead of it, he is one because of the activity he takes and the thought of sharing health and happiness, and not because of a piece of paper and the acclamation of his "species".

Art has a meaning, has a statement, the artist has a goal, to share a piece of "better", and has the responsibility to inspire and share a sense of beauty. Times are changing, art and the artist don't need to stay in the old mentality of premade self-beliefs of less, even art has the power to break those barriers free, by changing that negativity into positivity.
you have to put in the work, you have to spend hours, just to share 5 minutes of happiness, and if that artwork brought a few smiles, then you may consider yourself an artist, and a good one I might say. Then you may say: I am an artist! ... and you may even say it proudly.

Sometimes you put yourself between accolades without even knowing, without noticing that you are limiting yourself just to have an explanation for others. Why put a name on it? Isn't the point of doing it and of feeling the joy of creation? To spend hours, even days in a creative vibration just because, you saw a place for the better?
If art is just putting a title on a person, then we are all artists, as well as more. We are what we say we are, right? Or at least what we put our mind to... But because we do it, and because we do it for the right reason: to expand and evolve!

A body isn't a body just because of its skin, he is one because of the millions of cells and fibers and muscles, etc. that didn't stop evolving and growing. As well as art is not the canvas, the sound, or the pencil, it is the message and its intention of it.

So, what makes an artist? I think it's simply a person who is executing his goal, a person who shares a message... do better!
